Why Cleaning Your Desk Can Change Your Life

This year, I've been reading a new book on discipline by Ryan Holiday. Somewhere in the book, it says "Clean up your desk and make it a habit." At first, I thought "Yeah, makes sense," but I quickly moved on.

Then I was watching a YouTube video that also talked about cleaning up your life, and it made me think more deeply about it. They explained how your life consists of different puzzle pieces like work, family and friends, finances, and health. Some of those areas might be messy and cluttered. The idea is to clean them up by removing clutter and distractions to make life easier.

The simplest example is cleaning up your desk. If you want to improve your life and start cleaning things up, this is one of the easiest tasks. It's obvious what you need to do, and the work required is pretty limited.

There might be other parts in your life that require more focus or are just a bigger mess. My recommendation to you is to start with the small things that give you some traction. Get started fast, and then over time tackle the bigger topics. It doesn't always have to be physical like cleaning up your desk. It could be things like organizing your spending or addressing some family problems. If you sit down and think about your life, you'll notice some areas that require more energy from you and somehow drag you down. To improve the quality of your life, I recommend tackling those problems and cleaning them up.
